“The signing of Wākea Waikiki Beach complements our Hawaiian luxury portfolio and ensures we continue to meet the needs of our ever-evolving guests in destinations where they choose to be. With more than 20 hotels and resorts open and welcoming travelers across Hawaii, we are delighted to introduce the first LXR Hotels & Resorts property to the destination,” said Greg Hartmann, senior vice president, Luxury and Mixed-Use Development, Hilton. “Hawaii has played an important role in Hilton’s history and growth strategy across the Pacific. "Through our collaborative efforts with BOS Studio on design and with Hilton’s LXR Hotels & Resorts as the operator, this iconic edifice embarks on an exciting new chapter.” Wākea Waikiki Beach, LXR Hotels & Resorts - Exterior Irongate's enduring commitment to this property, which dates to its inception with a one-day record-breaking sales success followed by many years of award-winning hospitality, underscores our steadfast dedication to the destination of Waikiki and its residents and visitors," said Jason Grosfeld, chairman & CEO, Irongate. The breakfast was very simple with a few hot and cold choices.“We are thrilled to spearhead the revival of what I have always felt to be the ‘crown jewel’ of Waikiki with its timeless architecture and unobstructed views. The lobby is bright and colorful with plenty of seating. The indoor workout room looked well equipped but we did not use it. You can rent bikes to ride around the island right at the front desk, what a nice perk! Our suite was modern, clean and comfortable, ideal for traveling with my family. On the opposite side of the building there is even more outdoor seating. The staff said no problem and even offered their shuttle service to take us to the beach if we wanted too! The pool area is very nice with lounge chairs and umbrellas. We asked the front desk if we could simply take advantage of the beautiful weather and sit by the outdoor pool. We arrived before noon, knowing that we would not be able to check into our room. This newer hotel is centrally located on the island. I called the front desk twice, once to ask for more pillows, & the same female desk agent was “snippy” both times. All the staff were friendly & helpful except one. All the above is in no way a reflection on the mgmt staff. You can even hear people walking down the hallway at all hours. This is a nice new hotel, but the construction of this hotel is lacking overall soundproofing. I’ve been in real estate & property management for over 30 years. It was nice to have a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, dishwasher, & all the niceties of home. I didn’t bother calling as it was our last night & did not want to pack up 10 pm. But on night 3, a herd of elephants moved in & it was pretty rough. We were able to tolerate the noise above us the first 2 days by drowning-out some of the noise by leaving the a/c fan on constantly. We could hear our neighbor’s conversations & TV through the adjoining door. The next day, the front desk said there were no rooms on the top floor. We unfortunately got stuck on the 3rd floor & in a room that had an adjoining door to another room. So it’s late at night, limited lighting & we’re trying to drag our bags in between all the parked cars & over the curb. I was surprised not find a walking ramp from the parking lot up to the back door. We arrived late at night & got the last parking spot in the back. This is a new hotel and seems to be maintained nicely and was very clean. We were booked in this hotel on a 3-nt Hilton Grand Vacations tour package. This was our second stay at a Home2 Suites and might be our last! I don't know if it was me or if other people have experienced the same thing,The smell! It seemed like a cross between animal or mildew don't quit know.I bought some febreze air freshener in hopes that it would help and it still had this lingering odor which became more unpleasant the longer we were there.Which we did leave before our expectant departure date due to all our little aggravations! Most of the staff are unfriendly and unprofessional and the breakfast selections are limited not to say the kitchen staff was very unprofessional!! The hotel sits back a little bit so there isn't much natural light and then they go and put these awning shutters over the windows so there isn't much sunshine that can get into the rooms. All in All the manager of this property needs to take a good look at the staff and get more cleaning solutions to get rid of all the fowl odors.Cleanliness and good customer service goes a long way!
